Playground Designer
Playcare, Inc.’s designer skills have been shaped by thirty-six years of designing playgrounds. Our designer has an undergraduate degree in Environmental Design from the University of the Arts and a Masters Degree from Antioch Philadelphia.
Playground Designers design for people of all different ages. We design for infants, toddlers, preschool, school age children, parents, teachers, the elderly, and children with special needs. As playground designers we provide spaces that are safe, sensory rich, stimulating, and developmentally appropriate. When needed we design playgrounds that are curriculum- based. We always design playgrounds that are accessible and cost effective.
The first stage of our Design Process includes a safety inspection, a site inventory,observation on the existing playground, and interviews with kids, staff and administrators. We run brainstorming sessions. We develop a Master Plan. This is the foundation for Fund Raising.
The next stage of the process starts with Design Development drawings presented in CAD (Computer Aided Design). We provide Specifications, Construction Oversight, a Final Audit and a Maintenance and Inspection Program.
Our Playground Designs incorporate child-safe planting materials, natural landforms, custom design and choice of any manufactured equipment.
Our Playground Safety focus is supported by memberships in NAEYC, ASTM, NRPA, PA Parks and Recreation, and DVAEYC. Our designer worked as a Playground Safety Inspector and Trainer of Inspectors. She also served as a developer and writer of ASTM Playground Safety Standards. She was Chair of the Committee that developed Safety Standards for Children under Two.
